The Physician Assistant provides care and treatment to patients with physician supervision and in accordance with established regulations, privileges, and protocols.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provides Palliative Care for patients facing chronic complex, and/or life-threatening conditions in the ambulatory clinic and hospital setting.
- Provides assessments, disease and treatment education, and symptom management to meet the needs of palliative care patients and their families.
- Assists with after hours and weekend call triage of palliative care patients.
- Consults with palliative care physician or designees to coordinate the care of the palliative care patient.
- Collaboration with the palliative care team to assist in providing optimal clinical and psycho-social interventions.
- Treats patients in a diligent, knowledgeable and skillful manner in accordance with current standards of practice, applicable state and federal laws and regulations, and accrediting bodies.
- Consults with medical staff concerning matters beyond or outside professional ability.
- Assists in the training and education of students, nurses, and paramedical personnel as requested in matters within professional specialty.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation timely.
- Stays current and complies with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Maintains membership in good standing on the Medical Staff.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program required
Experience:
As required for Certification
Licensure/Certification:
Valid Certification by the Kentucky State Board of Medical Licensure required
