Job Description: Physician Assistant – Occupational Medicine (1099 Contractor)

Position Summary
We are seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) Physician Assistant to serve as an onsite 1099 contractor at a construction site in Claude, Texas. The PA will provide comprehensive occupational health services including triage, assessment, trauma care, X-rays, and medical management for construction workers. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical decision-making skills, fluency in Spanish, and the ability to provide timely, high-quality care in a fast-paced industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide onsite triage for work-related and non-work-related injuries or illnesses.
- Deliver primary and urgent care services, including wound management, stabilization, and trauma care.
- Conduct diagnostic testing, including ordering and interpreting X-rays, laboratory tests, and medical assessments.
- Perform occupational health evaluations, fitness-for-duty exams, and return-to-work clearances.
- Accurately document all encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and safety officers to ensure safe practices and compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Provide health education to employees on injury prevention, ergonomics, and wellness.
- Communicate effectively and appropriately with Spanish-speaking employees; fluency in Spanish is required.
- Arrange referrals and coordinate care for workers requiring offsite or higher-level medical services.
Qualifications
- Current Physician Assistant (PA-C) certification and valid license to practice in Texas.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in occupational medicine, emergency medicine, urgent care, or related field.
- Fluent in Spanish (native tongue or professional proficiency required).
- Strong experience in triage, trauma response, and diagnostic assessment.
- Ability to order and interpret X-rays preferred.
- Capable of working independently and making rapid, critical decisions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; experience working in construction or industrial environments a plus.
Contractor Compensation & Requirements
- Competitive 1099 contractor pay rate, commensurate with experience.
- Per diem of $75–$100, which may be used to cover travel and lodging expenses.
- This is a contract position; no company benefits (health, retirement, PTO) are provided.
- Contractor is required to obtain and maintain personal malpractice and liability insurance coverage.
- Contractor is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and continuing education.
Contractor Compensation & Requirements
- Competitive 1099 contractor pay rate, commensurate with experience.
- Competitive 1099 contractor per diem, for non-local contractor.
- This is a contract position; no company benefits (health, retirement, PTO) are provided.
