Primary Purpose

Responsible for providing direct and/or indirect health care services to assigned patient population.

Minimum Specifications

Education

Must have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an approved college of Medicine/Osteopathy.

Experience

Must be PY-2 or higher in good standing with University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center’s Diagnostic Radiology Residency Training Program.

Certification/Registration/Licensure

Must have a valid unrestricted Texas Medical License.
Must have current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
Must have and maintain for the duration of employment a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or Advance Life Support (ALS) certification from one of the following.
- American Heart Association
- American Red Cross
- Military Training Network
Must meet and maintain licensing and registration requirements as delineated by the Graduate Medical Education Requirements for Additional Medically Related Work.

Responsibilities

As assigned, provides high quality management of patient care. Performs as radiologist on-call to include reading and interpreting on-call radiology studies.
Provides preliminary reads for imaging studies with emphasis on cross-sectional imaging through appropriate radiology protocols.
Records diagnostic findings clearly and in a thorough, consistent, and prompt manner during each shift, and designates each note to be attested by the supervising faculty physician.
Promptly relays important imaging information to the referring physician in a timely manner.
Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
