This vacancy will be posted on internal Career Website for 5 business days. Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is three (3) months for full-time employees, and four (4) months for part-time employees who works more than 3/5 of the normal workweek. Probationary period will not apply to shift changes. To expedite patients throughout Radiology in a timely fashion with a primary focus in the Breast Imaging Department. Outpatient management includes performing injections for contrast-enhanced mammography studies, assisting in the protocoling of breast imaging exams (including mammography, ultrasound, and breast MRI), and ensuring patient safety. Obtains relevant history, performs a complete or focused breast exam as appropriate, and procures previous diagnostic imaging results for correlation. Provides emergency treatment for any/all contrast-related adverse reactions resulting from IV administration, including follow-up care. The Physician Assistant monitors patients while in Breast Imaging and serves as the first responder to any patient-related incidents. Participation in interventional breast procedures, including patient monitoring and care of acutely ill patients, as needed. RESPONSIBILITIES: Expedite patient care and throughput in Breast Imaging, CT/DR Radiology area and MRI (includes transport/custodial care of patient, if necessary). Contrast Injection/Consent Forms/Document labs results etc. Performs procedures in a timely and accurate fashion. Assist in Emergency Interventional procedures dependent on severity of patient. Responds to patient emergencies Retrieves / stores film collection as needed. Films available for reading and consults. Attends Radiology conferences, teaching rounds and presents cases. Transfers acutely ill patients. Keeps the Nurse Manager and Supervising Physician informed as to the needs, problem areas and suggestions, which may be beneficial to the service. Behaves in a professional manner at all times, especially when interacting with patients, staff and family. Dress code maintained appropriately. Interacts with peers in a respectful manner, shares responsibilities and communicates frequently in regard to status of patients. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree required. Licensed and registered PA in New York State. Must be a graduate of an approved PA program. Must pass National Certification Exam and must pass National Recertification Exam every six years. Must obtain 100 credits of approved CME every two years. Knowledge of protocol for Radiological/Ultrasound/Mammography procedures. Minimum one year experience required.
