Emergency Department- Advanced Practice Practitioner
General Summary:
The Emergency Department Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP) functions as an active member of the interdisciplinary team that provides health care services to patients seeking care in the Emergency Department. The APP works both independently and collaboratively with the Emergency Department physician to provide comprehensive health care services to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, prescription, treatment and follow-up planning.
Essential Job Functions*:
Performs physical exams and assessments of patients in the Emergency Department, including urgent, non-urgent, and emergent presentations
Qualifications:
Required: Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or AMA approved Physician Assistant Program
Preferred: Emergency Medicine/Family Practice Focus
Required: 1 year experience in Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine
Preferred: Experience working independently in either of these settings
Required: - Licensed by NH Board of Nursing or Board of Medicine as Physician
Assistant
- Must possess valid narcotics registration (DEA certificate)
- ACLS and PALS certification; to be completed within one
year of hire
Preferred:
Required: - Ability to deliver patient care in a manner that is appropriate to the
patient’s age, physical ability and intellectual development. Must
demonstrate proficiency in assessing treatment and responses and
adapting care to meet the needs of the Emergency Department
population
- Ability to communicate ideas by means of the spoken word, medical
orders, and patient written instructions
